Happy Three Beautiful Things Tuesday!
- The blessed silence on the morning of the 5th of July ~
- Seeing Mt. Baker, brilliant against the blue sky, popping through the trees and above the hillls on my drive to work ~
- Bright orange and yellow nasturciums peaking out of the green folliage to greet me when I get home from work ~

Thanks for the reminder to "stop and smell the roses" today!
I hope everyone is finding some relief from the heat you're having. I was positively melted when Ralph got home from work yesterday, seeking refuge in the a/c bedroom where our little window unit strained to cool the room. I told him it's either a/c for the house or he's buying me a place in NZ if he doesn't get whole-house a/c by next year.
Washington/Oregon is just as temperate as NZ and we're a LOT closer! (And its not gererally THIS hot!)
I had never celebrated the 4th of July in the Pacific Northwest. In California, we have "safe and sane" fireworks....they can't go over 8 feet in the air and can't explode. This means that nearly everything is a fountain or a whistler. I was totally unprepared for the ariel bursts and the constant BOOM --BANG ---BOOM from the HUGE number of fireworks. BY 3:00 a.m. I can say that I was actually tired of them (that's never happened before). I really identify with the "quiet morning of the 5th of July you mentioned!
