The best Caturday present EVER

A friend gave me this mug as a gift this week.  She said she saw it on the internet and just had to buy it for me.  Yes, I'm somewhat of a Trekkie - We did have a cat named Neelix you know - but the early cast - done up as cats - Inspired...   Thank you Nina :-)

It's Caturday!

 Hi Effurrybody!

George here, just lubbin the spring sun on ma belleh.

And the gravel on my back - sort of like a massage...

Sort of, but sometimes it puts my furs out of order, and we wouldn't want that to happen.

Mummy says to tell you that The Shepherd is getting a little bit better every day.  He's out working in the greenhouse this afternoon, planting seeds to transplant into the gardens.

We hope YOU are having a good Caturday and a great weekend.

Caturday Confessions

Hello Effurybody and Effurykitty!

It's Caturday, and Mummy has a confession to make, don't you Mummy?

"Oh, I don't think so Gracie, what are you talking about?"

You know, about you bein' an addik.......  Tell the people what you are addikted to.....   Like something that is keeping you from telling our stories, because you are busy doing your addiktion thing on the computer...

"Oh, you mean shopping on Amazon.com?  That's not an addiktion, that's a necessity"

No, I mean when you say, "OK, just one more game and then I'll go to bed"  ....Admit it Mummy, you are addikted to (here it is folks - she is telling my secrets)  Computer Solitaire...........

Yup, plain old computer Solitaire has got me in it's grips - you know, the one at the top of the list when you click on the "Start" menu on your PC- not online or anything - just plain old Solitaire...I can sure see how people can get into trouble with gambling.  You think, just one more game and I'll win the next one.

Holy cow!

Yay!! It's Caturday!

 Halo Effurrybody & Effurrykitty!

It's me, Gracie, and IT"S CATURDAY!

The big noos here is that tomorrow is Mummy's Hippo Birdy!

I think she is going to be older than dirt. ...  ...

At least that's what I heard her say.

She said that "old age was setting in"  and her parts were starting to expire.  Wow,  I hope that doesn't happen to ME!

One of the doctors that she saw last fall "strongly recommended" that she start wearing something called support stockings!   She found some that she liked and says that her legs do feel better. (It is pretty funny to watch her put them on - lots of huffing & puffing)   She says that part of the problem is that she sits at a high desk on a high chair and so her legs were kind of dangling  so she also bought a stool to park them on.

And she's still having problems with her vision & being able to see the computer screen.  Even tho she has gotten her new glasses, she still has to make the words really big so they don't all moush together -  And to top it all off, some of her eyelashes started to scratch her eye, so she had to go to her eye doctor and he pulled them out!  She said it felt like she had a stick stuck in her eye.  It has taken almost a week for her eye to feel better.

She says it's heck getting old.

Speaking of old, this s a picture from last month - when we had snow, we had an introoder!!!  Infact, The Shepherd said there were a couple of introoders.  They walked all over the yard and left their footie prints - he said it was probably a mommy raccoon and one of her babies.

I'm glad they didn't come in the house!

This is mummy's latest string project.  She went to her spinner guild meeting today and everybody said "Oh, you are spinning SEAHAWKS colors.  They are her and The Shepherd's favorite footsball team.  And they won their game today.  There was a lot of shoutin goin on in the libing room!!!

It has been raining and raining here, so mummy dug out this picture that she took last month when the weather was nice - cold but very blu skies - kind of SEAHAWK colors, don't cha think?

Mummy & The Shepherd are signed up to take snacks for church tomorrow.  So she decided to make it kind of an informal Hippo Birdie party for herself.

Here is what she is taking:

2 lbs each of sliced ham & turkey.  She got it at Cash & Carry Restaurant Supply, so it wasn't very espensive, she said.  With that are three different loaves of  bread, one dark, one oatmeal and one white, and a package of "flat bagels".  Butter, mayo & mustard, of course.

A nice tray of sliced cheese that she got at the grocery store.  It has 4 different kinds of cheese on it and it is all sliced up and ready to put on the table.  And some Wheat Thin crackers.

A bag of corn chips for our gluten intolerant folks, with some salsa, some homemade garlic dip and some homemade salmon dip.

Some oranges and apples to slice up AND her friend Vikki from church is making not ONE, but TWO Hippo Birdie cakes for her, because Mummy couldn't decide if she wanted chocolate with raspberry filling or Vanilla with lemon filling.  And Vikki said, "Well, why don't I make one of each - if there is anything left, you can take it tow work on Monday"

That sounded like a good idea to Mummy, but she wasn't too shure that any of the left over cake would actually make it into her office... he he he...

And then The Shepherd is going to take her out to dinner someplace nice!

So, that's all the noos there is today.  We hope you are having a good Noo Year!

Love, your roving reporter, Gracie!

The End.

Guess What? It's Caturday!

Hello Effury Body & Effurry Kitty!  It's ME, Gracie and -It's Caturday!.

I couldn't do my Caturday report last week because Mummy and The Shepherd LEFT US!

They LEFT US all alone (OK, some nice peoples came in and put food out a couple of times a day, but that's just not the same as being able to snuggle with Mummy on the big bed in the morning and making her late for work)

And that ebil orang dude still keeps coming into the house through our kitty door!  He eats our foodies and makes it stink in here!
Anyhow, back to Mummy & The Shepherd's trip.  They said they went to a place called Eugene, Oregon and saw lots of pretty things and lots of old friends  And if you read last week's post, you'll know that they came home with another vishus sheep to add to The Shepherd's collection.

But one thing I was impressed about was that Mummy said she wasn't going to buy any more sheeps furs for her spinny wheel while she was down there - I didn't believe her, quite frankly -

But even in the face of being tempted by pretties like these she kept her pocket book snapped shut.

And all of this purty stuff - she really stuck to her guns and, by golly, she came home empty handed - well, really not EMPTY handed, because she did buy a couple of pretty things for the raffle basket that she needs to do for her spinner guild - but she didn't add any thing to the room that she will not let me go into - she says it's where she keeps her "stash" and I want to know why I can't see it...

One of the reasons they went to this Eugene place was because of the sheeps furs that The Shepherd likes to play with.

Well it turns out that this lady likes to play with sheeps furs too - her name is Judith Mackenzie, and she was the judge for the big sheeps furs show.  She is apparently one of Mummy's heroes, so Mummy was glad to sit and listen to her talk all morning.
The Shepherd had entered two of his bags of sheeps furs in the judging - there were over 20 bags of furs in the class he was in - both of them got in the top ten but not high enough to get a ribbon.  Darn.  But if you biggify the picture (click on it) you can see all the fleeces on the second table over were all from sheeps like ours.

Judith said it was the biggest bunch of Shetland sheeps furs they'd ever had at this competition!

Here's their friends Yvonne and Michelle working on prizes for the "Spinner's Lead" contest - it is where people can enter and model a piece of wool clothing, but they have to have spun the wool and it has to have been hand made.

Mummy said It is a fun event to watch.

Back at home, now,  (they were gone for 4 whole dark sleeps) The Shepherd is collecting plants to take out to one of his customers.  Aren't those pink ones pretty?

This weekend and on Monday & Tuesday, it is supposed to get REALLY hot here - like maybe up to 90 degrees!  Mummy is really worried about Miss Bella - she seemed kind of sicky today - didn't hurl or anything like that - just didn't seem to have any energy (and Miss Bella is one of the most energetic kittehs that I know)

Anyhow, ifn she doesn't seem better in the morning, I think I heard Mummy say something about taking her to the V.E.T.  So think & purr healing thoughts cause going to the V.E.T. costs a LOT of green papers, and we want Mummy to buy us a furminator

Here are some of the plants that The Shepherd has put in the ground.  I think that I heard him say that these are sweet peas.  Mummy said they smell very good and she can't wait for them to bloom.

This is right by the spot that Mummy parks her car.  The fern is really huge this year, but only one or two of the nastyurchins came back this year and generally there are lots of them in this little flower bed.

That's it for this week.

Signing off to you from my favorite chair -

I think it looks like a throne, don't you?

XOX  Gracie

Hey Effurybody! It's Caturday!!

 Hello Effurrybody and effurry Kitty!

It's Gracie, here with the Caturday Report.

It was pretty quiet here on the farm this week.  It has been very sunny and warm - leading to lots of naps outside in the yard.

And lots of naps inside on the big bed.  Although this morning Mummy unceremoniously dumped us out of bed so she could go to her string makers meeting (her spinner guild)  - she even won the raffle prize, which she said she'll show you later in the week.

Mummy has been reading a lot of books - she just finished "Crunch Time" by Diane Mott Davidson.  She said it had too may characters and way too many plots to keep track of - do I look like I care?

She also just ordered a whole bunch of other books from Amazon.com - one of her favorite places to shop because you can get almost anything there.  In fact, she just ordered a new flex hose for the shower in the big bathroom.

The Shepherd, however, shops locally, and finds the prettiest things.

While Mummy called April the month of "Yellow Things" - May could be called the month of "Pink Things" around here - This cherry three has turned the entire back yard pink with it's petals and blossoms that have fallen off onto the ground.  It makes it hard for me and Georgie to camouflage ourselves with all that pink.  The pink peonies will be blooming soon too.

But, Mummy said that the weather man says that the blue sunny skies and the warm sun puddles are gone for a while,

It's raining out there right now,  in the dark of night.

George has been sticking to Mummy like glue ever since he committed his transgression of staying out all night and scaring the stuffings out of her.  So he and I have taken to sleeping at night at her feets in the big bed.  She says we make it hard for her to turn over, but she is glad to know where we are at night...

So, Mummy says "that's all the news that's fit to print" -  what ever that means.  I think I'll take another nap before she kicks me out again.

Effurybody have a great week, and remember to hug YOUR Mummy tomorrow!

Hey, it's Caturday!

 Hey, effurrybody and effurrykitty!

It's me, Gracie, and It's Caturday!

And Mummy has been wandering around singing a song about Mem-Rees and corners in her mind (I thought you could only have corners if the thing was square) - that Mummy is W I E R D, don't cha think???

Actually, this flower isn't a Mem-ree - it's another "Yellow thing" to show you from The Shepherd's garden - I heard Mummy say it's called a "Pee-o-nee Too-lip"

And there's lotsa them bloomin out under the tree.

She also says she's been dreaming of sugerplums, what ever those are...

I thought these were balls of sheep furs...funny colored sheep, tho I might say...

What do you think?  Red sheeps?
Getting back to the farm, the rhubarb (the three plants in the front here) is growing.  Mummy thinks there might be enough to make The Shepherd a pie for their anniversary on Tuesday.

They will have been married for 19 years!  That's a lot of time.

More Mem-Rees here - only mem-rees of baby sheeps this year.

More sugarplums - as you can see Mummy went crazy at the wool sale last week.  She has it all put away in her wool room so's we can't play with it, darn.

The girl sheeps will go out into this front pasture tomorrow, sans the rug rats, as I said, no baby sheeps this year.

The neighbors are all disappointed.  They like to come watch them play.

The weather next week is supposed to have blue skies like this - and this cherry tree should be in full bloom then too -  It will be nice to have some good big sun puddles to sleep in.

So no dreams of sugerplums here, I like dreamin of joocy mise & frogs -

It's me, Gracie, signing off, til next time.

A Catuirday report and Mummy's Finished Object

Hello Effurry Body and EffurryKitty!

It's Caturday!  And it's been one pretty nice week here in the Pacific NW.  Georgie, Bella & I have spent a lot of time out in the Shepherd's gardens - partly because it has been sunny and warm out, but partly because some mystery ebil kitty has been coming into mummy & The Shepherd's house through OUR cat door and eating our food and making it stinky in the kitchen.

Mummy is upset - but The Shepherd is fur-i-ous.

Mummy wanted me to tell you about the blankie that she made *crocheted) for the grand niece of her older sister.  It is kind of round and kind of star shaped.  And BIGGER than she thought it was going to be - but the colors were so pretty and the yarn was a soft & fluffy stuff - she hopes that the new baby will like it.

This is Glory of the Snow.  The Shepherd didn't think it was coming back in the garden, because it was a little slow to come up this year.  But, it is up, and it is ALL over the place.  Where it was originally planted (in the flower bed in the front of the driveway) and over there - (across the driveway,) and over there - (under the bamboo), and over there (by the big pine tree) - Mummy says it's like lemmings marching to the sea!

We wanted to wish EFFURRY one of you a Hoppy Easter.  The Shepherd and Mummy will be verry busy with church things this weekend and then Mummy is going to bake a Turkey for Easter Dinner.  I hope we get a little bit.  I likes Turkey!

This little blankie is for the baby's older sister (she's about 4) This is for her dolly.  It would also work for big sister to put her head on when she is lying in the grass.

Mummy said I could finish the blog today, with my verry best poem -

     " Happy Easter!
          Happy Spring!
              Happy, Happy
                  Everything!"

We hope you all have a great weekend!!

Love, your roving reporter,

              Gracie!

It's Caturday!!!

Hello Effurrybody and effurrykitty!

It's me, Bella and I get to do the Caturday report this week!  It's almost St. Patrick's Day, so Mummy decorated me with this very cool hat & green ribbon.

And for all those who've been waiting, yes, the sheepies got their furs all cut off this week.

The shearer guy's name is Dan Riley and he came up from Arlington (about an hour's drive to the south) on Thursday and sheared our sheep and our friend Nancy G's sheep.

Mummy seemed to think he did a pretty good job.

He had good control of those squirmy things and didn't make any cuts or nicks on them.

And Mummy said she didn't see any second cuts - what ever that means...

This fluffy goodness looked very appealing to me, but The Shepherd shooed me away.

I thought it would be great fun to jump in the middle of that puddle-o-wool and just roll around.  He didn't think so at all.

It always amazes me the different colors that come off of the sheepies.

This one was The Shepherd's favorite, I think.

And see - they look pretty skinny and geeky, don't you think.

They got all freaked out when Mummy tried to go into the barn, and ran out into the rain.  Silly things.

Mummy took a movie of the shearer guy at work for all of our friends who don't have sheep of their own - but the ebil blogger would not let her down load it today. She'll try again next week.

Now  that the guy with the scissors is gone, I can lay back and relax - I didn't want to add my pretty furs to those big piles, so I kept far away from him.  Hope you had a nice weekend.  See ya next week!
