The Mrreows are up to something tonight - -

George and Gracie must be working on some special undercover assignment. Gracie came in, (after much calling on my part) and ate some dinner and rushed back outside. I called George every 15 minutes for about 1 1/2 hour - finally, he just appeared, came in, ravenously ate a little out of his bowl, then ran back out. A few minutes later he was back in, ate some more and looked up at me as if to say, "Is this all we get for dinner?"

I caved and gave him another 1/2 (little) can of his favorite food. He ate and then RAN back outside, like he had to catch a train!

Darn cats. My feline teenagers are turning my hair grey(er)!

Yes, Life is indeed, good.....

My friend Donna has given me the "Life is Good" award. I thought the questions were interesting - they certainly give you a bit of insight into a person...


1. What would your prefect day consist of?
Sleeping until I wake up – then having the day to putter around the house, not having to go anyplace or do anything – favorite music on the stereo or complete quiet -

2. How would you describe yourself if you were an item of clothing?
A comfy rumpled old t-shirt – one that has a picture on it commemorating a fun event.

3. What hobbies are you currently working on?
Spinning & crocheting; photography

4. Walking in the woods in wellies or bare foot on the beach
Bare feet on the beach for sure

5. Have you ever hugged or sang to a tree?
I’ve sung to one more than once – they are very good listeners, you know.

6. Growing your own veggies or nipping to the supermarket.
Having The Shepherd grow them for me, as long as they don’t come in the house with bugs, slugs or worms!!!

7. Have you found anyone exciting in your family tree?
No one exciting that I know of, but lots of cousins that we’ve never been in contact with.

8. Slap up meal in a posh restaurant or fish ‘n’ chips from the wrapper
Both would be fun.

9. Which element do you most resonate with, Earth, Air, Fire or water?
Water

10. Do you believe in fairies?
Of course. We had one named Alvin living in the basement when I was a child and I’ve been a believer ever since. They live in a parallel universe – that’s why things (like car keys or important papers) will disappear for a time and then re-appear when we aren’t looking.

Eeek! It's July!

Well, I kind of wore myself out doing all those posts about the Black Sheep Gathering - I think we had a lot of new visitors to see them - hope some of them will keep coming back.

The Sheep are doing just fine - the "Boyz" are all out in the front pasture - taking all the adoring praise of the neighborhood in stride. They have developed a funny habit lately - & of course when they are doing it, I never have my camera - They KNEEL down to eat. I call it their Cornish Cross chicken routine - (The Shepherd says that Cronish Cross chickens will eat so much that they just fall asleep at their feed trough - this reminds me of that)

Sinda was terrified of all of Mother Nature's fireworks the other night - We had a HUGE thunder and lightening storm at 2:30 in the morning on Thursday. She was practically cowering, poor little thing.

Neelix has an appointment with "Dr. Todd" next week to see how he is responding to the Thyroid medicine that he's been getting. It's turned from a "battle" into a "hide & seek" game to get his meds into him. We have settled on Sheeba cat food as a treat to make up for the indignity of having to take a pill twice a day. In fact, I ran out of Sheeba Thursday night and had to give him my ham lunch meat to make up for it. The looks of recrimination were just too much for me.

I think I'll have The Shepherd bring the PTU (Prisoner Transport Unit) into the house tomorrow so he'll get used to having it around and won't skip out on me.

I've started spinning up some of the beautiful wool that I brought home from Black Sheep. I just couldn't help myself - it was like wanting to get into a new box of chocolates! I took my first two skeins to work and the ladies that I work with all said "Why it look just like yarn!" I think that I'll take that as a compliment...I cannot, however show you what it looks like, because one of my dear readers will be the Christmas recipient of what ever I decide to make with it - and that is even letting the proverbial cat out of the bag.

We are really enjoying the flat of fresh strawberries that The Shepherd brought home from "Small's Gardens" on Thursday. I put 4 packages in the freezer for treats next winter. These are some of the juciest berries we've ever gotten and they hardly needed any sugar.

I'm closing with a "Cold Box Meme" that I borrowed from the pages of my good friend Miss Peach.
It is a fun and simple MEME for the hot summer. "Show us a photo of the front of your Cold Box and tell us about at least one thing on it and one thing you keep inside of it! Tag your friends and remember to stay COOL!"

I love fridge magnets - and as you can see there are a lot of them on our cold box - & pictures of my friend's and relative's children.


I also love quirky cartoons. So there are plenty of those too. I even have a few things around the corner on the sides but I decided that was not necessary to show you.

Getting to know me.......

My friend Franna has tagged me for a “getting to know you” meme – “Please won’t you come out to play?” she implored. Since I haven’t done one of these for a while, I thought it would be fun to do, so here goes -

The rules: Posted here at the beginning. The player answers all questions. The player then chooses six people you want to know more about and tags those people by listing their names at the end of the post and going to their blog and leaving a comment, letting them know they've been tagged and asking them to read your blog. Also, you let the person who tagged you know when you've posted your answer.

1. What was I doing 10 years ago?
Ten years ago, 1998. Wow, what WAS I doing? I was selling Pampered Chef products but other than that, I can’t really remember anything specific. I’m working the same job, married to the same man, have the same cats and am living in the same house today as I was in 1998. (see question 4)

So, I started by “Google-ing” 1998 - I looked up the top 30 movies – I think we saw two of them in the theater (“You’ve Got Mail” and “Star Trek, Insurrection” ) and I’ve only seen about 6 of the rest on TV. (sort of sad isn’t it) – But not as sad as the music of 1998 - - N*Sync, Celine Dion and the Backstreet Boys all seemed to be popular – but with the exception of a couple of Shania Twain songs and Fleetwood Mac re-recording “Landslide”, there wasn’t a darn song OUT OF the TOP 75 that I recognized! – Scary for someone who made a second living by singing and playing guitar for 21 years of her life.

Maybe seeing what was on TV that year would jog my mind – Charmed (did watch) and Sex in the City (didn’t have HBO) were both on the hot list. It was the last year for Seinfeld (not a big loss in my opinion) – You might have found me watching the X-Files or Law and Order, but more than likely re-runs of M*A*S*H or something on Food Network. Still there didn’t seem to be any defining “moment” for me – so I checked out Wikepedia –
* Bill had his “improper physical relationship” with Monica;
* The movie “Titanic” (still haven’t seen that one all the way thru either) won 11 Oscars;
* Apple unveiled the “iMac”;
* Viagra was approved by the FDA;
* GOOGLE was founded!; (and it took less than 10 years for “googling” to become a commonly used verb ie: “he googled her before they went out for drinks”
* The US & British forces invaded Iraq;
* and at 77 years old, and 38 years after he was the first American to orbit the Earth, John Glenn went into space on the Shuttle Discovery – making him the 2nd oldest person to go into space. Way to go J.G.!


2. What were five things on my to-do list today (not in any particular order)? Laundry; shop for groceries; get cat food; clean the cat box; go work on the church plant sale. (I did four of them…)

3. What snacks do I enjoy?
Hmm – snacks? Popcorn, although I don’t have it much; mandarin oranges (canned), really good chocolates, cheese & crackers (wheat thins), ice cream, Milky Way Midnight Bar,

4. Where are some places I've lived?
I have lived in two places, Mansfield, WA and Bellingham, WA - not very adventuresome, I’m afraid.

5. What things would I do if I were a billionaire?

Ah, the American Dream - to be able to buy gasoline when ever you want it.

“How much is a billion?”, I thought to myself (and promptly went to Google for the answer).

A billion, in America, is a thousand million. That would be written like this:

A billion is a very difficult number for me to comprehend, but one advertising agency put that figure into perspective in this press release:
* A billion seconds ago it was 1959.
* A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.
* A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Age.
* A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes, at the rate Washington spends it.

So what would I do with that Billion Dollars?

First, I’d pay off our mortgage and buy out the guy next door to get rid of him and his 24/7 noise. I'd move out the house and turn the whole place into another pasture! Remember the old TV show “The Millionaire”? This guy went around and gave away $1 Million to people who soon found that they were better off before. To heck with that, I’d pay off the mortgages of all my family and close friends, maybe even some not so close friends –

Second, Of course, The Shepherd could quit his day job and I’d start looking for a very responsible and honest person to replace me at work and bid my job adieu.

Third – I’d put the ’91 Ford Festiva out to pasture and find a Really comfortable new car.

Fourth - I’d probably give a big chunk of it to ”The Hutch” (The Fred Hutchinson/University of Washington Cancer Consortium). They do an awful lot of good for a lot of people, myself included.

And Franna’s idea of an electric gate – That is not a bad one either…
