Enjoying the sunshine
When I got home from town this afternoon I stopped out by the pasture to see all the babies. They are still paired up with their sibs but soon they will be waiting for our neighbors to come home so they can race them down the way. Two more lambs born this morning. Pictures soon or you can find me on Instagram - menolly44. We're off to dinner and groceries in a bit, I need to go make lists

More lambs and trouble in the barn
This is Angel, one of the new lambs we have today on the farm. Two moms, Frostiana and and Vikki. Angel is Frosty's . Sadly Vikki lost her ewe lamb (darn!) and we almost lost Vikki to a prolapsed uterus.
Thanks to the great vet from Kulshan Vet Hospital in Linden, who put her back together. We have to give her shots for the next three or four days . Whoopee....

Allison
Allison has a very nice black fleece. No white anywhere but on her head, and her tongue (often an indicator of the color she'll be, ie black tongue, dark fleece, pink tongue, light fleece,) is black on the top and pink on the bottom! So who knows. The shepherd did say she has a healthy set of lungs...

The Birth of a Princess
Marietta's Lilah!
Oh, you thought I meant THIS Princess -Princess Charlotte of Cambridge (ie Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana...) Sober looking little thing, isn't she? Not as good looking as "Uncle Henry", but here are all of Lilah's Aunties and cousins - checking in to see what all of the excitement is about.
This is Lilah's brother Sammy - (pre-sold, can you believe it!) They are actually almost a month old, so I need to get out and take some new pictures. His horns are going to be massive and she has just the sweetest face.
Nothing says spring like new lambs!

More Babies!
A little sheep heavy, I said -
The Shepherd stayed home from church this morning. #1 he was exhausted from the Wonderful Woolies Wool Sale that we took part in yesterday (I promise I'll post some pictures later in the week) #2 - he was pretty sure that Donna was ready to deliver. Two years ago (her first baby) she delivered one honkin' big ram lamb.
This year, she did the same thing. Good thing he stayed home, although she did not need his help this year.
Another fine, big (over 6#!) ram lamb.
And I introduce Marietta's Django.
And that color is pretty true too. Donna spent a couple of hours cleaning him up. He's pretty darn handsome!
Ahem, excuse me, sir, do you know when my room will be ready?
So once she heard Donna talking to Django, Violet was knocking on the barn door, waiting and gnashing her teeth...
He no more than had Donna & Django settled in their jug, came in to get a snack, went back out and Violet had delivered a little grey & white ewe lamb, and wascleaning her up. He came back in & got me (out of my nap, mind you) and so I grabbed my camera & headed back out with him. Oh, Shepherd, I said - I think she is having another one. "Oh, no, that's just the aftrebirth from the ewe." Well, no, it was the second lamb. This poor little guy made his appearance, kind of unnoticed by Violet - Plop, right on his noggin!
Which is why The Shepherd hangs out while the ewes are giving birth - they are generally pretty good, and Violet is a very good mama - but, they get a little sidetracked by the first one, and the second one often needs a little help. He hadn't made a trip to Goodwill to get extra "sheep towels" so I had to dig through my stuff and came up with this paint stained t-shirt that I used to wear around the house - well, it's in the garbage now....
Wether #2 was a little bit slow getting on his feet, but was up and nursing in about 15 minutes.
Unimpressed by these births, Bella took a nap in a sun puddle.
Marietta's Vikki has some pretty unusual markings. After Violet got her all cleaned up, she is bright white on the sidewalls with a browish gray stripe from nose to tail and grey brown legs.
The Shepherd thinks she is the cutest thing going right now.
Look at those curly little locks on her back.
She really is pretty cute, don't ya think? And boy, is that going to be a pretty fleece -
Another gratuitous flower photo - this rhododendron was in the "decor" for our wedding 20 (!) years ago next Wednesday. Wow, how time flys!

Everybody gets to go outside now!
That is Makks in front - He is only three days old here, but look at how much bigger he is than the other lambs!
The only one who really didn't like the turn of events was Little Ole - who was not quite tall enough to see over the grass - and apparently spent a fair amount of time screaming for his mommy - "Help! I'm Lost - And I might be blind -all I can see is GREEN!" poor little fella.
Violet with Sandy and Frosty - Sandy just gets prettier by the day.
And the neighbors have been "flocking" by to see the new babies - one lady told The Shepherd on Saturday that our lambs are the highlight of her family's spring.
And here's himself - look at those telephone pole legs. The Shepherd has examined him from top to bottom - can't find a white hair on him - sure hope those horns come in good!

Yippee - we get to go Outside!
Friday afternoon, Violet was ready to get out of the lambing jug (and for reasons that will become apparent at the end of this blog) The Shepherd moved her and the babies to the front pasture.
The Shepherd is admiring Frosty's markings - he does have the cutest little face, don't you think?
And this one is just stunning - what a pretty little girl. It is really funny how sometimes they "just look like sheep" - and other times - the boys are very masculine looking (broad chest, heavy brow (think Worf, the Klingon from Star Trek) - and the little ewe lambs are just dainty and "pretty" -
Oh, and the reason he needed the jug "emptied out" - Vanessa had these two yesterday morning between 4 & 6 a.m. - Little Ole in front and his sister Dottie in the back.
Baby watch is on for tonight with Donna -
Don't look so stressed Vanessa - you could have had SEVEN lambs like that Finn Sheep did in Snohomish last week! Holy cow - talk about doubling your flock in one fell swoop!
Out into the big wide world. That dog is our neighbor's Tipper - waiting for her "mom and dad" to come home from work.
