Happy 4th of July!

Hooray for the red, white & blue.

We had our own "fireworks" here all day, as he weaned Robin & Ruby this a.m. (ie - he removed them from their mothers - causing great havoc ALL day long)

I miss our Japanese iris. The Shepherd had over 20 varieties - they bloomed during the last two weeks of June. (Generally while we were gone for Black Sheep!)

A year ago last winter, we had several HARD freezes - plants that had grown for years in the county died - including ALL of his Japanese iris (what didn't die got munched by the rascally rabbits who moved in this spring)

There is no plant more amazing to me than the hydrangea - give it one mineral, it turns blue, give it another it turns pink - magic!

Well, the 4th of July is here - we had hoped our noisy neighbor was gone for the weekend, but, nope, he is back - already setting off fireworks. The only consolation I have is that the little girls will probably start in crying at about 5:00 in the morning - and hope it wakes him up out of his stupor... (Ok, I know that's probably going to give me bad Karma but I just can't help myself)

Hope you and your family have a GREAT 4th of July!

We have a fireworks factory right down the street. Hey's almost our next door neighbor! He was booming them until midnight last night. I'm amazed my critters don't really think much of it.

Perfect flowers for the occasion!

I have weaning going on here, too, with some "city folk" neighbors. If they don't like country noise, they can move back to town!

Time for me to wean the boys at minimum. Plus, we live where fireworks have been banned for the summer, although not legal anyway.
We had our fireworks last month - and need rain so we don't have any more. :(
