The Shepherd filled all the pots in my plant stand with these lovely pansies as a gift for Easter (even tho we said we were not going to do any "Easter Bunny" presents for each other!) I guess they are as much for him too - they are so bright and cheery as you come out the back door.
In the summer we fill these pots with petunias - Several years ago (before I had my digital camera), I found an itty bitty green tree frog hiding in the throat of one of the blossoms - waiting for fast food, I think.
The neighbors across the street have one of the last large wetland areas around here. At dusk the frogs start to sing to each other - "Pick me, Pick me, Pick Me" By dark, the noise is almost deafening - I love it.
The weather today went from torrential down pours this morning (ruined a lot of Easter egg hunts, I reckon) to bright sunny skies this afternoon. Easter dinner was a little low key (we both were feeling "under the weather") - we had already planned on baked salmon, steamed red potatoes and fresh asparagus. It was tasty and there is enough left over for tomorrow night (well not the asparagus, it goes pretty fast around here...)
I took a walk around the place yesterday while we had a break in the inclement weather - After I get my church newsletter done, I'll put some of the pictures up this week so you can see how creative The Shepherd is on a grander scale.

Oh Tina there is nothing like the face of a pansy to bring me back to my Oma's house in Germany. Can you see the kitties face in the pansy? Our Easter was quiet and filled with wonderful blessings and friends. I envy your singing group in your church..you and the shepard. I thought about you all morning. I used to sing with our praise team in our old church. Our pastor moved and we have not found a new one yet. Wandering like Moses in the desert is hard on the heart. Our small group holds church at home so we can stay together and take the Lords supper before the lesson. Yes, I thought about you and wished I could be with you all today...
Much love from Karla and Miss Peach
You both were on my mind yesterday, too! I was hoping you had a nice day - wondering if you got to spend it w/family.
We had a very quiet day. Ralph was getting things in bedroom ready for the painter and doing 'puter stuff. I fell asleep in my chair with my best buddy, Shadow...then did some knitting on the sampler I'm learning. A very quiet day.
Thanks for the pansy pictures. I am tempted to do something now, but know full-well winter isn't over yet even though we are in the 60s. Shearer comes Friday! TTYS....
Your flowers are beautiful.
It's way too early for that around here. :-)
what a wonderful easter gift from the shepherd! the pansies lift the spirit with a promise of spring...even when we're cold all the time!
That was such a sweet gift from the Shepherd. We don't do Easter Bunny presents but I did get a few Peeps to satisfy my Peeps cravings. I love getting flowers and plants because they are a gift that keeps on giving more than just one or two days. I love the sounds of frogs too!
It must be so nice to have the flowers of spring, sigh~
Easter here in the high desert doesn't look like Easter at your house. Sigh~ oh, I already did that. How about, alas....
