The Color's of January

It has been so warm this month - (we're on a course to have the warmest January on record!) that the witch hazel is in full bloom!

Bulbs are popping their little heads up all over the garden. The Shepherd/aka The Gardener is afraid that what happened last year will happen again this year - a hard freeze in February killed a LOT of stuff in our yard. Lets hope that doesn't happen this year.

Work is busy - 6 day weeks most of the month - but I took yesterday off - we went to Oak Harbor (about a 90 mile round trip) to have Chinese food. It was worth the trip. Saw swans and a lot of eagles - my camera was sitting on the kitchen counter. Darn.

I'm glad to hear SOMEONE is busy at work! Rick would like to be busier....

I love Witch Hazel! Someday, I'll have a plant or two.

One trick John might use is Christmas Tree lights - if I put them in plants like my apple tree, then turn them on at night until things warm up in the mornings, they generate just enough heat to keep blossoms and young leaves popping out to keep them from freezing.
Of course, then I lose everything to the winds later, but at least the frost might not get them.
Just a high mountain trick the MG's here use.
The other benefit is that your neighbors think you're partying all night. LOL!

My camera "lives" in my purse. That said, today the battery was dead so I don't have bragging rights. December was the coldest on record and now we're trying to make a wettest month. It's all screwy.

Tina, you really need to join in the fun at Sue's Colors of January activity. Yours would make a good addition!
