You may recognize these plants that are coming up in The Shepherd's garden. Some people call it pie plant and it does make great pie - especially if you mix it with strawberries and put a crumb topping.. strawberry rhubarb pie...yum. Land'o Lakes has s great recipe on their web site. Check it out.

Rubob, as my dad used to say. I love having a rhubarb plant in my garden. Years ago, living in Colorado and partnered with a guy who played the banjo, we used to take his old van up to Taylor Park, a vast open area in the Sawatch Range. We discovered a little creek named PiePlant Creek and an old mine site named PiePlant. We didn't see any rhubarb, but we liked to fantasize about hosting a PiePlant Pickin' and Grinnin' Pickathon, with our musician buddies. What a time of life!
